Now an Annual Meeting tradition, our Boston Area Social at the Hard Rock Cafe on Monday evening was a fantastic event and productive opportunity to build relationships. This was not solely due to the Most Significant “Stand-Up” Moment presented by Chapter Past Presidents John Spohn and Jack Campion, which featured a historical poem reading by Jack…..there were other drivers! Jack’s reading was most eloquent, combining a patriotic tribute to the American Revolution with “eating crow” and washing it down with a cold Harpoon Ale, all while reminiscing over the super demise of our New England Patriots at the hands of the Philly Eagles.
If you missed it, there’s a video for proof!
We again invited the Japanese Affiliate to join us as our special guests, plus we added a robust contingent from the local Delaware Valley Chapter (which also co-hosted the event). The social supports productive and fun networking among Boston area attendees and also builds bridges with other affiliates/chapters. A surprise added benefit was having background singers for Jack’s poem chanting “E-A-G-L-E-S – Eagles”….at the most inopportune moments!
The higher-level benefit was social networking and relationship building that will be my fondest take-away. At one particularly memorable moment, I enjoyed a robust story-telling circle that was evidence of the diversity and productivity of the social networking. To the background music video of vintage rock & roll, the cast of characters included Danielle Vassalotti Rebori, current DVC President and an architect at Jacobs Wyper; John Cocco, first DVC President and recent Sanofi Corporate Project Manager; Tiffany Coleman, International YP Committee Representative currently helping to build the budding cannabidiol industry in Colorado; Mike Arnold, Past Chair of the ISPE Board of Directors and a senior director at Pfizer; along with various Boston Area Chapter BOD members past and present; Chapter Past President Andre Walker and John Ganley with his wife Ann. This was but one moment among a colorful night full of fun people creating productive relationships.
In fact the mix of attendees provided for so much fun and conviviality, initial feedback suggests we need to consider co-hosting with DVC again, even when the meeting is not held in their backyard. So mark your calendar for next year’s social – Las Vegas is only twelve months away!
