
Scholarship Winners Ensure the Future of Pharma

Biotechnology, chemical engineering, microbial systems analysis – these are just of few of the career choices represented by the latest winners of the Joel Goldenberg Memorial Scholarships awarded by the ISPE Boston Area Chapter Scholarship Foundation and made possible by charitable donations from generous individuals and industry stakeholders. In the words of winner Michelle Wang who is earning her MS in bioengineering at Tufts while working at Shire as a downstream process engineer,
“Through my degree program, I have been able to learn more in depth about upstream and downstream processing and their application in the biotechnology industry…My future goal in terms of professional development is becoming a technical expert for downstream purification operations in support of tech transfers.”
Joining Michelle are another 11 deserving winners, all studying STEM fields at New England colleges and universities, planning careers in the pharma, biopharma or related industries and excelling in both academics and service to the community:

The Joel Goldenberg Memorial Scholarship program emphasizes careers in pharma, biopharma and related enterprises and supports the development of engineers and other skilled professionals vital to these industries. The latest awards bring the total awarded since 2011 to $167K.
