Buono! Squisito! Gustoso! Saporito! Spettacolare! Delizioso!
All these expressions and more were being heard emanating from home kitchens far and wide during last Friday evening’s WIP Boston ISPE Pasta with Pietro. ISPE members, friends, kids, and families from all over including Missouri, Pennsylvania, California, Wisconsin, and even Leinster, Ireland logged on to the second annual Pasta with Pietro cooking class to make Gnocchi with Pesto Genovese. Personally, I was not a fan of pesto prior to the event but now I am a believer. Homemade pesto is absolutely “Uno tira l’altro”, and I will never pass on homemade pesto again!
Using simple ingredients Chef Pietro happily guided all 32 screens of us (approximately) through the gnocchi-making process. We boiled, mixed, mashed, laughed, rolled dough, chopped, munched on snacks, blended, and sipped beverages throughout the evening and not a single Italian potato pillow was burned in the process. It was great to see family members and friends joining in on the fun, Jesse McLaughlin’s and Shannon DeMello’s kids made appearances on screen as their personal sous chefs. The class gave folks the ability to get to know each other a little better by getting a glimpse into each other’s kitchens all while learning something new. Pietro was kind enough to capture the fun by taking group screenshots of the class. Now, with a second successful Pasta with Pietro on the books, I and the Boston ISPE WIP committee look forward to planning another cooking class for next January 2023. We look forward to your feedback on having another class. Lastly, if you have any photos or comments you would like to share we greatly appreciate it! Happy New Year and Bon Appetit!
