I am overwhelmed with gratitude to have been selected to receive The Hank Moes Award! I am so honored to have my efforts over the years recognized in this way by the ISPE Boston Area Chapter. It means so much to me that things I did on behalf of the Chapter that I am so passionate about, also resonated with others.
This accomplishment is not something that I did in a vacuum, and there are many others who deserve to share in this award. If I think about what made our Chapter such a success over the last 30 years, it was the initiatives shaped by the all the past presidents, board members, and volunteers, who over the years incorporated what was good, smoothed out what was rough, and discarded what would hurt. And that was how I approached everything I did for ISPE and the Chapter – to build upon what had been successful. So while I had great success taking our organization to a new level, it would not have been possible without the hard work and the inspiration of all my predecessors, countless colleagues, and enthusiastic supporters. And this makes me very excited about where the Chapter is going over the next 30 years, because ISPE is always getting new members with great new ideas to make the organization better every year.
I would like to specifically thank Dick Priester for twisting my arm to join the fledging Chapter so many years ago and starting me on this journey. I had no idea helping out at a single event would lead to so much success and so many friends. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Amy Poole and her team at CAMI for always making me look good and keeping me out of trouble. And I need to thank my employers and clients that allowed me the time and resources to do what needed to be done. I would also like to thank my wife, Valerie King and my children and my wonderful family for their love and support throughout my entire career and our many other adventures.
Last, but not least, thank you to the ISPE and the Boston Area Chapter for offering recognition to volunteers like me. I hope that this recognition of my work can serve as an inspiration to others in the field. Remember – if my work can make a difference, so can yours. I am honored and appreciative and will always treasure this award. Thank you.
